Our people make Kier
Every project we work on draws on the skills and expertise of our people. Their job is to make a positive impact on the world. Because what we achieve together in a day will have benefits that last for generations.Search our jobs >
Supporting progression and change
Kier's success is based on the talent, commitment and professionalism of our people. Which is why we want to retain the brightest and the best by investing in their careers so they are stretched, rewarded and proud of the work they do.
When employees are keen to progress, we help them understand the range of possibilities open to them within Kier by illustrating some of the pathways they may choose to follow. This structured approach helps them understand which skills, capability and work experience they are likely to need to place themselves in a good position to successfully secure future roles.
Helping you reach your potential
These moves can either be upwards, to take on more accountability and responsibility. They can also involve lateral moves to broaden technical competency across similar families of jobs in a particular professional area. From time to time, the business helps employees change from one career area to another while staying within Kier.
We have a robust performance system in place which encourages regular discussions between a line manager and employee about career choices. To support this process, we have in place resources and training for line managers to help them facilitate these conversations.
