North West fast facts
Kier in the North West
Kier is helping the North West to realise its ambitions of rivalling London and the south east with diverse opportunity, economic growth and destination locations from cities like Liverpool and Manchester to growing suburbs and rural idylls, all boasting major regeneration, incredible investment opportunities and a fantastic quality of life. We have successfully operated across the region for decades which is why we have decided to play a leading role in the foundation of the Northern Powerhouse.
In recent years we have been generating over £2bn of wider economic activity across the whole of the north of England. We are doing this by offering a breadth of capabilities across the entire region, bringing together skills from across our business and employing 5,500 people, delivering an integrated offer to our valuable customers and helping to boost regional economies.
As we continue to expand within the region so does our corporate responsibility footprint. Working with BBC DIY SOS, we helped to renovate eight dilapidated homes on Canada Street in Newton Heath, Manchester, to create four adapted homes for veterans and their families, as well as a Walking With The Wounded advice and therapy centre. In addition, all 62 properties on Canada Street and adjacent New Street were given a 'facelift' to create a neighbourhood that everyone feels proud to live in.
